Special Handling: Frozen. Draw blood in a chilled syringe from a patient in a seated position; place specimen in a chilled, lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s); and mix. Alternatively, draw specimen directly in a chilled, lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s); and immediately place EDTA tube(s) in an ice-water bath until thoroughly cooled. Refrigerate specimen during centrifugation, separate plasma immediately, and freeze 2 mL of EDTA plasma in plastic vial. Send specimen frozen.
