Special Handling: Gastric aspirates cannot be collected in an outpatient setting; the patient must not have sat up or moved around in the morning before the procedure is performed. Place aspirate into special container containing buffer (available from Micro Accessioning in Core Lab) for transport to lab. Call Micro at 724-8632 to have container sent to unit via pneumatic tube. It is recommended to have 3 specimens collected within 24 hours, and one specimen must be collected in the first morning.
