Special Handling: Allow the red top tube to clot completely and retract from the side of the tube (approximately 1 hour), centrifuge, separate serum, transfer serum to screw-top or capped tubes (2-3 aliquots) and freeze. Label tubes "Serum".

Causes For Rejection: Specimens that do not clot. Grossly and moderately hemolyzed, icteric or lipemic specimens.
