Required Volume: 4 mL
Minimum Volume (Pediatric): 1 mL
Methodology: Manual Microscopy
Standard Run Times: 24 hours per day, performed ASAP when received
Turnaround Time: 24 hours/next day (species confirmation)
Special Handling: Specimen must be collected at Stanford Hospital. Push smears must be prepared within 1 hour of collection. Patients unable to travel to Stanford should have malaria testing performed at the nearest hospital.
