Special Handling: 1) Prechill a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) at 4 degrees C before drawing the specimen. 2) Draw the prechilled lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s), and process 2.0 mL of EDTA plasma from a fasting patient as follows: A) After drawing specimen, chill lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) in wet ice for 10 minutes. B) Centrifuge in a refrigerated centrifuge or in chilled centrifuge cups. C) Immediately after centrifugation, remove EDTA plasma,place in a plastic transport vial (Supply T465), and freeze. 3) Send specimen frozen.
