Methodology: Molecular methods including RNA extraction, reverse transcription, PCR amplification (protease and RT regions), DNA purification and dideoxynucleotide terminator cycle sequencing. Sequences obtained are compared to a susceptible consensus B strain. Drug resistance associated mutations are reported with physician interpretation for all approved anti-retroviral drugs that target the HIV protease and reverse transcriptase enzymes. Phylogenetic analysis and subtype are also included in the analysis.
