| Description: |
Alpha-2-Antiplasmin is a protein synthesized in the liver and present at high concentration (1M) in plasma. It functions as the primary inhibitor of plasmin and serves to localize the activity of plasmin to the fibrin clot where it is relatively protected from inhibition by Alpha-2-Antiplasmin. Deficiency of Alpha-2-Antiplasmin can result in increased plasmin activity and bleeding. |
