Urine amino acid analysis identifies disorders of renal amino acid transport, including cystinuria, lysinuric protein intolerance, renal Fanconi syndrome and others. This test is less useful for the identification of primary aminoacidopathies, particularly in infants, for which plasma testing is more appropriate.
