| Description: |
Infection with cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in transplant recipients and other immunocompromised hosts. Viral culture and shell vial testing will be added and performed for BAL, washings, fluids (non-blood) and Tissue specimens. Bone Marrow specimens that have clotted will be processed as tissue samples. Anticoagulated bone marrow samples are processed and the white cell portion is used for testing. If blood or plasma is received: CMV Quantitative PCR will be done, (Order code = CMVPQ). |

Suspected of CMV infection.
For non-blood samples, CMV Qualitative PCR test should be ordered. |
