PLASMINOGEN ACTIVITY

Test Code: PLASMN
Description: Plasminogen is a glycoprotein zymogen primarily synthesized in the liver. Upon cleavage by tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), plasminogen is converted to the serine protease, plasmin, which functions to degrade fibrin clot. Inherited deficiency of plasminogen or dysfunctional plasminogen are rare thrombotic disorders. Acquired deficiencies of plasminogen may occur with liver disease or consumptive coagulopathies.
Indications: Suspected plasminogen deficiency
