| Description: |
MOLECULAR DETECTION OF t(11;14). As many as 95% of mantle cell lymphomas may contain the t(11;14). During these translocation events, the cyclin D1 gene on chromosome 11 fuses with the 5’ end of the immunoglobulin heavy-chain joining region on chromosome 14. This fusion gene results in over-expression of cyclin D1 mRNA and cell proliferation. Thirty to 50% of t(11;14) occur in the bcl-1 major translocation cluster (MTC). A primer and hybridization probe set target this MTC region by real-time PCR. |
